Distinguished and Famous people from Launching Place

✈️ Dick Winterburn

Aircraft collector Dick Winterburn brought an unusual collection of aviation relics to Launching Place. Aircraft records trace the shell of a former Royal Australian Navy Wessex helicopter, N7-210, to his property after it was offered for sale in 2014. Another part of his collection began a new chapter when restorer David Rasmus bought a Dakota cockpit section from him that year. Rasmus’s firsthand account describes collecting the section in May and transporting it home for restoration. These were machines and components with lives beyond their flying days: an apparently unpromising fragment could become the starting point for another enthusiast’s painstaking project.
